Positive Behavior Support for Young Children
Positive Behavior Support is a national initiative that is supported by the State of Michigan Department of Education Office of Special Education/Early Intervention Services. PBS consists of multiple ideas that work together to promote positive behavior of all children in Early Childhood programs. PBS includes
- Arranging physical environment
- Teaching predictable routines
- Providing clear classroom expectations
- Using developmentally appropriate instruction
- Giving children feedback on their behavior
- Teaching social skills
- Providing a plan to help individual children succeed
PBS is a program-wide approach that addresses the entire learning environment. Through this approach, we have defined rules and expectations. Our universal building rules are:
- Be Safe
- Be a Friend
- Be Respectful
Parents can help their child by teaching and using our program rules at home.
